Never Learn How To Fly

I saw a baby bird, fallen from its nest

And soon it will die

It will never learn to fly

Never soar across the sky

This day is difficult at best

And wonder why

I will close my eyes

On this ground I will lie

Has this life of mine been a waste?

I feel the dirt against my skin

I feel I’m drifting again

I guess there is no way to win

Victory, I want to taste

But all I taste is gin

I am drifting again

I guess I’m lost in my sin

Much like my featherless friend

To my fate I am bound

My memories compound

Dying on the ground

Deep down I know it is the end

No help to be found

If no one is around

Will I even make a sound?

A baby bird has fallen from its nest

And soon it will die

It will never learn how to fly

And I wonder why

Master of our fate – We Pretend

Masters of our fate, we pretend to be

Blindly follow where blind men lead

To stumble through life is our destiny

Under the illusion that we are free

Everything that is, has already been

The same futile thinking all over again

We exist through life, playing pretend

Scattered about by an unseen wind

Masters of our fate, we pretend to be

Blindly follow where blind men lead

To stumble through life is our destiny

Under the illusion that we are really free

We seek control that power brings

Temptation leads to forbidden things

The knowledge that came from the tree

Has been the demise of you and me

Masters of our fate, we pretend to be

Blindly follow where blind men lead

To stumble through life is our destiny

Under the illusion that we are really free
